Welcome

Welcome to the website of the Chew Valley Choral Society. We are a friendly mixed-voice choir of people who enjoy the pleasure of singing choral works of all kinds. The choir was founded in 1976 by a group of singers who had come together through a series of evening classes held at Chew Valley School. Our members still come mainly from the Chew Valley but we also welcome people from further afield.

We aim to perform choral concerts of high quality. We usually perform two concerts a year, mainly in churches in the Chew Valley area. Our soloists are always of professional standard. From time to time we join with other choirs to perform larger scale works with full orchestra. This happened recently when we joined massed choirs and the orchestra of the University of the West of England to sing Walton's Belshazzar's Feast in the Colston Hall, Bristol.

Rehearsals are held weekly on Tuesday evenings, from 7.30 to 9.30 p.m. in the Church Hall in Chew Stoke. They are led by a professional Musical Director and Accompanist.

We rehearse from early September until late April or early May with a short break at Christmas.

In order to maintain a good standard of singing we ask members to commit themselves to attending as many rehearsals as possible, although we realise that other things will occasionally take precedence.
