Chew Valley Choral Society  

Saturday 28th November 2026 - St John's Church Keynsham

Chew Valley Choral Society are excited to be celebrating their 50^th Anniversary with a performance of Handel’s Messiah, the first work performed by the choir in 1976, and we would love other choirs and singers to join us for this special concert. There are a number of ways you can get involved, either as a choir or as an individual singer.  Details on how to register to follow soon. Messiah Workshop, Saturday 13 June 2026, 2-5pm

Our preparations start with a workshop in Bishop Sutton Village Hall, led by our Musical Director, David Bednall. The workshop will take place at Bishop Sutton Village Hall (Wick Road, Bishop Sutton, BS39 5XQ). Tickets cost £20, which includes score hire, and tea and cakes.

Autumn term rehearsals

We invite individual singers to join Chew Valley Choral Society as we learn the piece together during the autumn term. We will start rehearsals on 8 September. Singers joining us for the term will pay the same termly fee as existing members. 

Experienced singers

Experienced singers who know the piece well are welcome to join us for the final rehearsal and concert. Singers joining us for the rehearsal and concert only will be asked to contribute £25 towards the cost of organising the event.

Additional choirs

We would be very happy for choirs to join us for the concert if they already know the piece. We would plan to rehearse together on the Saturday (with perhaps one other rehearsal, tbc). As with individual singers, those joining us as part of another choir will be asked to contribute £25 each towards the cost of organising the event.

Rehearsal and concert, Saturday 28 November

There will be a full rehearsal with the orchestra during the day, and the concert will be held at 7.30pm in St John’s Church, Keynsham.
